from collage to spotify and beyond

Music covers are one of my favorite pieces of art, I know it’s just an image, but when it comes to music and creative concept, as a music lover, I really dig into covers. “OK Computer”, “Turn on the Bright Lights”, “Dark Side of the Moon” and many other works are in my top 15 list. So… is this a post about music covers? Well, no. It’s about the music cover that I worked in the last weeks, I finally had the chance to work on a commission for Wicho López, a very well known musician from Guatemala, the brief was simple but yet challenging, create an artwork for the upcoming remix of “ARROGANTE”.

Wicho shared a dropbox folders with a lot of content and photos, I just had to use what I like to start the collage, he told me I can do whatever I want, kudos to him because when artists have freedom to create, they can propose a lot of stuff.

I called Wicho and shared my vision of this music cover, we agreed on some ideas and in the end, I just had to put the work, so he can say yes or no. I had a lot of ideas, from mixed media animations to a black and white colored collage, I don’t like to sketch ideas, I get immersive in my workspace and start from there, with big cuts, small pieces and compositions.

Here’s the final work, if you follow me here, you’re gonna see it first because I will not share this on my IG, Tik Tok or X account. I hope you like it 😀
